Political journey so far as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member

  • Became actively involved with the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1984
  • Became the Youth Minister of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha in 1986.
  • From 1988 to 1990, he was Vice-President of the Bhatiya Janta Yuva Morcha.
  • From 1988 to 1992, he was the Member Director of Jaycees Ferrous Ltd.
  • Elected as University Representative from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University in 1989.
  • In 1990 he was elected for the first time as a Legislative Member of Madhya Pradesh (undivided) and became the youngest MLA of the state. Since then he has been undefeated from the Chattisgarh seat, having won in 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008.
  • From 1990 to 1992, he was the Minister of Tourism and Science and Technology under the local government (independent charge).
  • In 1991 he was conferred honorary membership by the Rotary International.
  • Secretary of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha from 1991 to 1994.
  • In 1993, he became General Secretary of the Bhartia Janta Yuva Morcha; was re-elected as MLA; and was nominated as Member of the Privileges Committee.
